Flood
Information
The Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) and the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation (NYSDEC) are in the process of revising the flood
insurance map for Nassau County. The proposed new map refines
the flood hazard boundaries used to estimate flood risks in the
county and to calculate Federal flood insurance premiums.
The proposed changes will affect
a few dozen properties in Rockville Centre in the vicinity of
Mill River, though all residents may want to know more about
flood hazards and the federal flood insurance program.
Copies of the proposed revised
map and its companion flood insurance study are available for
viewing at the Rockville Centre Building Department, 110 Maple
Avenue, and online using the links listed below.
